Just a few hours later, Private Mejia was ordered to report to the commander's office. As usual, she had to show up naked, since Sergeant Davis continued to keep her clothing locked up. She was mortified while the officer made her stand at parade rest for a very long time. Finally the commander addressed her subordinate.

"Well, Private Mejia...it seems you've made quite a name for yourself since you came here. Let's see...your NCO is recommending...hmmm... a dishonorable discharge for dereliction of duty and disobeying several direct orders. And we've got the shower incident where you decided to masturbate right in front of me during an inspection...and then we have last night. It seems you are responsible for causing some commotion in the barracks last night. Quite impressive, I'd say. And you transferred in...just two weeks ago...am I correct?"

"Yes, Ma'am."

"So, Private Mejia...under most circumstances you'd be facing a court-martial for your behavior. However, I've been thinking...maybe Sergeant Davis was too quick to write you off. Maybe you can redeem yourself."

Private Mejia noted the officer's eyes scanning her body, with that same strange hungry look she had in the parking lot the day before. The soldier was scared, wondering what exactly she'd have to do for the commander. However, what choice did she really have? There was no way she could face her family if she were dishonorably discharged.

The commander continued: "Well, Private, what do you think? If I deny Sergeant Davis' request for a court-marshal, are you willing to do what is necessary to restore yourself in my opinion?"

"Yes, Ma'am. I promise I'll do whatever you want."

"Good girl. That's what I want to hear from you." The older woman smiled. "Very well, Private. I'll take you at your word. Effective immediately, you are reassigned and will be working directly under me. Sign here...and also over here...and here also."

The officer handed Private Mejia a pen. As her commander had expected, the soldier did not bother to look at what she was signing...
